About Bricomarché Poland

Europe's largest independent hardware and DIY retail network

Since opening their first store in Żary in 2000, Bricomarché Poland has grown into the most-visited hardware and DIY retailer in the country. Each store is owned and operated by an independent entrepreneur under the Grupa Muszkieterów franchise model — Europe’s largest grouping of independent retail entrepreneurs.

Supporting close to 250 stores with an average area of 1,700 m², Bricomarché generated 4.6 billion PLN in revenue for 2025 — 7% year-over-year growth, well ahead of the broader Polish hardware and DIY retail market. The network’s target is 400 stores by 2030.

Bricomarché Poland had already invested heavily in modernising their technology infrastructure — SAP S/4HANA ERP, SD-WAN connectivity across all locations, and a new distribution centre in Modlin. This foundation made enterprise pricing integration possible without disrupting existing operations.

The challenge

When scale outgrows the pricing approach

Bricomarché Poland was growing fast. The challenge wasn't ambition — it was infrastructure. Building well-founded recommended prices for a fast-growing franchise network — up to 30,000 SKUs per store and several large international competitors — calls for a fundamentally different approach than spreadsheets and static rules at head office.

01

Scale & catalogue complexity

→15,000–30,000 SKUs per store requiring a consistent recommended-pricing logic the whole network can rely on
→Seasonal demand swings across hardware, garden, building materials, tools, and decoration
→The potential to offer every franchise owner the right recommended price to choose from — a network growing toward 400 stores by 2030
→A well-founded recommended price should be available to any store that wants it — while each owner keeps the final call
02

Competitive intensity

→An intensely competitive DIY market with several large international players — the mix varies by location
→Continuous monitoring required across the full catalogue, not periodic spot checks
→Different competitive dynamics per category, location, and price tier
→Price image management across hundreds of locations simultaneously
03

Franchise transparency

→Each store owned by an independent entrepreneur — the recommendation behind every price must be explainable
→Full transparency required for franchise partner trust: no black-box automation
→Central guidance that respects each owner’s freedom to set their own shelf price
→Architecture that scales the recommendation without ever pricing directly into a store
The solution

Four modules. One configurable platform.

Bricomarché Poland selected Pricen for its non-food retail depth, configurability without IT dependency, and speed to value. The central pricing team works with four modules — each building on the foundation of the last.

Module 01

Store Management

Store roles & competitive context
The foundation. Stores can be assigned a strategic role — Price Leader, Standard, Premium Catchment, or Regional — based on competitive density and catchment profile. The local market can be mapped and weighted per role, so a central recommended price can be shaped to reflect each store’s real local market. The configuration is flexible: roles, competitor weights, and rules can be adjusted centrally as the strategy evolves — with each entrepreneur keeping the final say on the shelf.
Module 02

Dynamic Pricing

Real-time competitive response
With store roles live, the recommended price can adapt to each location’s competitive setting automatically. An urban store in a dense competitive market could be given a different recommendation than a regional store with a thinner competitive set — one strategy configuration, the option of tailored guidance per store. CPI thresholds, margin safeguards, and approval workflows are there to keep every recommendation defensible, powered by PricePanorama and ARAMIS.
Module 03

AI Profit Optimisation

Demand-led margin improvement
Pricen AI finds the price that maximises gross profit — not just revenue or volume. It runs above the competitive layer, identifying margin opportunity on products where competitive pressure is low and price sensitivity is lower than assumed. Unit Margin and Unit Margin % configured as primary metrics throughout.
Module 04

Price Simulator

Test before you commit
The central team models pricing scenarios before any recommendation goes out — projecting margin impact at category and SKU level. For a franchise network this transparency is essential: every recommendation is shown and validated centrally before it reaches store partners, who make the final call. Approved scenarios flow to the network via ARAMIS.

Modern, understandable, fast — even though it's engineered as an enterprise solution. People actually want to use the product.

What's next

Automation with transparency

With the four-module foundation in place, Bricomarché Poland can move on capabilities like Pricen Functions — a no-code canvas for shaping custom recommended-pricing logic, fully explainable to every franchise partner — whenever the timing is right, now or in a future phase. Either way, Pricen's AI-first strategy is built to grow with Bricomarché's tech stack: native MCP support means the platform could plug directly into their AI tooling and agents whenever they choose to, so pricing intelligence can evolve alongside the rest of the stack rather than lagging behind it. It is a capability that is ready when they are — not something in use today.

Under consideration

Pricen Functions

No-code recommendation logic
Building on the store roles already live, Pricen Functions would let the central team shape store-role-specific recommendation logic visually — different markdown curves for price-leader vs regional stores, tailored promotional responses per catchment — all without code. A capability Bricomarché Poland is evaluating for a future phase, not yet part of the current setup.
Future capability

Zone & regional pricing

When the network reaches 400 stores
As Bricomarché Poland expands toward 400 stores, pricing zones would let groups of stores share the same recommendation logic based on geography, competitive environment, or catchment profile. Zones extend the store-role concept — same architecture, greater granularity — with new stores inheriting the right zone automatically on setup.
Franchise transparency

Explainable recommendations

Every recommendation visible
Functions would produce recommendation logic every franchise partner can see and understand — a visual canvas showing exactly which rule fired, why, and what changed. This is the transparency that makes AI-guided pricing comfortable in a franchise model, where autonomous entrepreneurs stay in control of their own shelf prices.
